2020 BMW X5 Core Models 

When the BMW X5 was redesigned for 2019, its trim structure was simplified. 2020 sees a rear-wheel drive BMW X5 sDrive40i return to the lineup alongside the all-wheel drive BMW xDrive40i that had earlier replaced the BMW xDrive35i. Both new BMW SUVs share the same 335-horsepower engine. If you crave more power, one way to get it is in the BMW X5 xDrive50i, which serves up 456 horsepower. 

2020 BMW X5 M50i 

Of course, this being the BMW brand, why stop at 456 horses? As with many other new BMW models, the BMW X5 has its own M Performance variant, the 2020 BMW X5 M50i. The engine from the xDrive50i is re-tuned, and there are upgrades all around to handle the much higher torque and horsepower. You will also be treated to a bespoke color palette, all-season run-flat tires, M Sport brakes, and specialized Adaptive M Suspension alongside M Performance-specific leather upholstery and aluminum trim. 

Where Are the Trim Levels? 

If you've read this far, you've likely noticed that we haven't had much to say about trim levels. That's because the BMW brand goes down a different path, differentiating their vehicles more by their powertrains and drivelines, allowing each to act as a blank canvas.
