While the worst appears to be over in Los Angeles, it is clear that it will take a long time for the city to recover from the horrific wildfires. Fortunately, many companies are stepping up, including BMW. With offices in LA, the carmaker has been a part of the community for a long time, and it now wants to do its part to support the city and the people who live there. Here, BMW of Catonsville discusses its efforts.
Red Cross Donation
BMW has been a long-time partner of the American Red Cross and has supported the organization's work for years. This is why the manufacturer has donated $1 million to its Disaster Relief Fund. Said Sebastian Mackensen, President & CEO, BMW of North America:
“The BMW Group has very close ties to California and especially in the Los Angeles area where many of our associates live and work in our regional offices and our design center, in addition to many dealers in the community. Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by the California wildfires, the firefighters who are giving their all, and the organizations who are working so hard to support them all.”
Money Going Where It’s Needed
The American Red Cross has been working to offer immediate needs to those affected by the fires. So far, the organization has provided people with over 12,500 overnight stays in shelters and more than 115,000 meals and snacks. This donation from BMW will go a long way to making sure that more people get the help and care that they need.
Stepping Up for Our Friends and Neighbors
Like all of you, we’re saddened by what we see in Los Angeles. But we aren’t powerless. In times of trouble, we step up for our community – even when that community may be many miles away. If you want to learn more about BMW’s efforts and what you can do to help, contact our BMW dealership.
