While there are many benefits of owning an electric vehicle, two stand out. Firstly– of course–there’s the fact that you will never have to worry about buying gas. Secondly, because they have fewer moving parts, EVs don’t require as much service as their gas-powered counterparts. There are some important EV maintenance tasks that owners need to be aware of, however. Our BMW service center goes over the essentials.

Tire Rotations

Just like with gas-powered cars, the tires on your EV wear down over time. To help ensure that they wear down more evenly, you should have them rotated about every six months. This will give them a much longer lifespan and boost their performance.

Brake Inspections

It’s important that you have your braking systems checked out closely at least every year. This allows technicians to make sure everything is in good condition. If a part like a brake pad is starting to get thin, we can replace it.

Fluid Top-Offs

Because your EV doesn’t have an engine, changing the oil is something you won’t have to deal with. However, your vehicle still has some other systems that require fluids, such as the power steering, transmission, and windshield wipers. It’s essential to get your fluids checked every few months to gauge their levels. If anything is running low, you can then have it topped off.
