Being a German model, the 2021 BMW X7 is naturally going to incite high expectations. There’s also naturally going to be a lot of comparisons with other models within the same vehicle segment. This means head-on comparisons with American, Japanese, and other European models.

Let’s see how the BMW X7 holds up against some of the competition.

BMW X7 vs Audi Q7

It’s only fitting that the BMW X7 is compared to another German model, the Audi Q7. Both are known for their luxury design, especially in the interior. While both models are formidable in their own right, the auto site Car Connection gave the BMW X7 an overall score of 7.4, compared to 7.0 for the Audi Q7.

The reviewer also described the BMW X7 as a “must-drive” and “supremely comfortable.”

BMW X7 vs Land Rover Range Rover

Both family vehicles come with amenities like dual-zone automatic climate control, under-seat ducts, and heated front seats. Their distinguishing point, though, is the space and seating capacity. The BMW X7 has 90.4 cubic feet of cargo space when the rear seats are folded down, vs 68.6 cubic feet for the Range Rover.

With the latter model, buyers can opt for the optional long wheelbase, though even with the upgrade, that only expands the cargo room to 75.6 cubic feet.

BMW X7 vs Mercedes-Benz GLS

Both SUVs are high-end luxury models. The BMW X7, though, holds one clear distinct advantage. The model has a higher ground clearance at 8.7 inches, compared to just 7.9 inches for the Mercedes-Benz GLS. This is a beneficial aspect for preventing damage to the undercarriage, especially when driving over dips and ramps.
