In pretty much every possible way, the automotive world absolutely is a popularity contest, at least among consumers and potential consumers, but with so many different ways of gauging that popularity it can sometimes be a little challenging to determine which brands truly are the most popular. Despite that, if we go off simply how many people subscribe to and enjoy car videos online, it certainly does look like BMW is going to be tough to beat.

According to a new study from ZEFR, an online marketing company, BMW is the most popular automaker currently running videos on internet streaming website YouTube. With over 4 billion views of BMW videos online, it is far and away the most-watched automaker in the world, and according to ZEFR, 95 percent of those views are from fan videos, which is an especially pleasant feather in the cap of the German automaker. It means that people not only are enjoying the videos BMW puts out, but creating BMW admiration videos of their own.

"YouTube has become a treasure trove for connecting with the right people for automakers," said Dave Rosner, head of marketing at ZEFR, in an interview with Automotive News.

And he's right. The 95 percent of clicks going to fan-made videos isn't unique to BMW, as many auto fans tend to connect best with their brand through the production of these online video clips. The fact that BMW is seeing so many of them, however, proves their popularity among those consumers savvy enough to create them, and the dedicated sales team at BMW of Catonsville is pretty thrilled to know that we're selling new BMW vehicles worthy of such admiration. We knew people loved BMW cars, we just didn't know they loved them so much.
