This weekend, Miami Beach once again was the stage for an important international arts festival.  This was the fourteenth year in a row the famous Art Basel fair found a home in Florida, and the talent on display was impressive.  Over 250 leading art galleries from all over the world displayed work by new and established artists, drawing attention to some of the world’s best modern and contemporary art.  And once again, BMW was there to take part in this exciting festival.

BMW was involved in Art Basel in a number of ways.  From providing the official VIP shuttle, using BMW 7 Series limousines, to an exclusive VIP reception preceding the event, BMW supported the work of artists and festival organizers.  Not only that, but BMW partnered with Art Basel to present their own exhibit, the BMW Art Journey, in gardens next to the fair grounds.  The BMW Art Journey provides a mobile studio to a lucky artist who can pursue their art while traveling to a dream destination - or in the case of this year's winner, while traveling around the world and across five continents.  Samson Young, the winner of the first edition of the BMW Art Journey, used the opportunity to explore iconic bells in the context of themes like religion, community, and conflict.

If you're wondering why BMW would be so involved in an art festival, even an internationally famous one, the answer is simple: BMW models are works of art in themselves, and making them goes beyond engineering and enters the level of artistic creation.  Just ask anyone who has driven a BMW, from a classic model to any one of the lineup of 2015 BMW vehicles.  Baltimore, MD drivers might not have been able to get the full Art Basel experience, but they can experience the art of a BMW right here at BMW of Catonsville.
